Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • At least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Knowledge of and experience with DC and AC solar collection system design
  • Experience with power plant controllers
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative
  • A flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Work with multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise
  • Prepare designs for DC and AC collection systems and power plant controllers
  • Prepare plans and specifications, write reports, and develop cost estimations
  • Manage projects, coach and mentor less-experienced staff, and provide technical leadership
  • Manage teams to meet clients’ needs
  • Involve in short-term out-of-town assignments as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Experience with collection system studies including ampacity, short circuit, reactive power, grounding, insulation coordination, harmonic, and transient overvoltage
  • Experience with energy storage facilities
  • Authoritative capabilities and experience applying industry-standard resource modeling and assessment techniques (PVsyst, Windographer, etc.)
  • Experience with statistical analysis of solar and wind data, resource and net energy production forecasts (including uncertainty/variability analysis and loss assumptions), design, site conditions, and technology suitability
  • Experience with data collection, post-construction measurement campaigns (including power performance testing), and project contracts
  • Demonstrated project organization and management skills
  • Client-relationship and business-development skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD
