Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years related work experience in the field of medium voltage collection system design for renewable energy systems or underground medium voltage power distribution
- Basic proficiency in use of Autocad
- Strong proficiency in the use of Cymcap software for underground thermal analysis of electrical conductors
- Strong proficiency in an electrical power system analysis tool such as Digsilent Power Factory, ETAP or similar for performing short circuit, load flow, harmonics and arc flash analysis
- Basic familiarity with software for performing electric grounding analysis for safety (touch and step potential) such as WinIGS or CDEGS
- Strong familiarity with the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code
- Good knowledge of the industry and technology trends specific to wind turbine generators and wind collection design.
Responsibilities
- Performs all aspects of design for medium voltage (typically 35 kV) including calculations and analysis such as underground cable thermal analysis, electrical loss analysis of conductors and transformers, short circuit analysis, effective grounding calculations, electrical grounding for safety (touch and step potential), fiber optic loss calculations, load flow and reactive power analysis, harmonics analysis, and arc flash analysis
- Development of technical specifications for Balance of Plant equipment
- Development of bills of materials for electrical installations
- Development of installation instructions and construction drawing details
- Ability to work closely with internal and external civil engineering, structural, geotechnical, and environmental staff to produce a well coordinated and constructable design
- Keenly focused on production of high-quality work and supports continuous improvement and standardization efforts
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
- Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine the key clients in some instances
- Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work
- Attending all client technical review meetings.
