Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in web development, Digital Media, Computer Science, or related field required.
- 3-5 years of experience managing websites, ideally within a cultural institution or nonprofit organization.
- Demonstrated experience directly supporting web and digital media platforms. Experience on a major website redesign project and/or content migration project is required.
- Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems, Content Management Systems (CMS), and User Experience Design is a plus
- Experience managing digital content for performing arts and/or cultural heritage organizations is a plus. Belief in the museum as a cause for social good and a positive, dynamic force for transforming lives.
- Mobile-first mindset
- Expert knowledge of WordPress or similar template-based web content management system of equivalent sophistication and W3C Web standards.
- Proven ability to drive complex content development and publication efforts involving multiple stakeholders (including external vendors) to successful and timely conclusions
- Knowledge and experience with key web topics around SEO, site optimization, and analytics
- Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML5 & CSS3 and understanding of Web Programming PHP, MYSQL, JS (jQuery), CSS, HTML
- In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, and deployment) including browser testing and debugging.
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices.
- Project Management experience – SmartSheets would be a bonus.
- Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, and as an effective team member.
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily management of the museum’s website, digital signage, and other platforms, including content updates, maintenance, troubleshooting, security issues, and coordinating with external vendors and partners when needed.
- Proactively plan, prioritize, and strategize web and digital media needs in collaboration with the Web and Digital Media Director, while managing cross-departmental projects and setting timelines and resources for implementation.
- Develop and maintain processes for handling maintenance requests using a ticketing system, while attending meetings to address requirements and propose solutions for web and digital media projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve user experience, streamline processes, and optimize performance, collaborating regularly with IT teams and other departments across all levels.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, compliance standards, and regulations, and contribute to evaluating and improving web and digital media efforts through reporting and continuous assessment.
- Design and provide in-house training on systems used by the institution as needed and/or assigned.
