Requirements

  • 15+ years of related drainage design and leadership experience; design-build experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with focus on Water Resources Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligible for registration, with Engineers and Geoscientist of British Columbia (EGBC).
  • Requires the ability to manage projects, staff, interface with clients and enjoy working technically hands-on while leading the Engineers on Parson’s projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for transportation, transit and municipal infrastructure work in Victoria, North Cowichan, Nanaimo and other Vancouver Island areas in coordination with other senior managers.
  • Monitors and reports to Director, Water Resources and Municipal Engineering, Western Canada on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.
  • Oversee project delivery and PMs, by assigning work to and overseeing work of Project Managers and technical staff.
  • Knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software (PC-SWMM, InfoWorks, HEC-RAS, SWMHYMO, Visual OTTHYMO, Civil3D) for performing QC of engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate and assess need for delivery, staffing, hiring etc. for current and upcoming work.
  • Assist with, answer, or delegate technical questions from design staff;
  • Technical advisor, QA/QC, review deliverables, reports and proposals (both contents and fees).
  • Provide coaching and mentoring/training of technical staff, EITs, junior/intermediate engineers for success in their career.
  • Manage select projects as needed.
  • Work with other senior management on project opportunities and marketing direction.
  • Staff performance and reviews including career plans and compensation;
  • Perform interviews and hiring/dismissal of staff.
  • Client point of contact/manager: Cultivate, and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Support reporting PMs and finance team with invoicing and accounts receivable.
  • Participate in select professional organization events on behalf of company.
  • Maintain professional development based on EGBC requirements and ensure engineering and technical staff maintain ongoing professional development for their respective regulatory bodies.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally to support client and project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vancouver Island experience is desirable.
