VP – Underwriting and Reinsurance

10+ years of experience in a commercial P&C insurance environment and/or 7+ years of property underwriting experience. Prior surplus lines experience is a big plus
Deep expertise in risk assessment methodologies, pricing models, and coverage structures
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset
Strong negotiation and relationship management abilities, fostering trust with internal teams and external partners
Proactive leadership with a collaborative spirit—you know when to take charge and when to empower others
Comfort navigating state-by-state regulations and licensing processes, ensuring compliance at every turn

Assess and underwrite surplus commercial property insurance policies, ensuring the team adheres to our high standards and guidelines
Evaluate complex risk factors to determine optimal pricing and coverage terms that fuel growth without compromising stability
Partner with Sales, Ops, and Product teams to craft underwriting strategies
Monitor industry regulations, market trends, and emerging risks to keep SafeLease at the forefront
Develop and enhance underwriting policies and workflows that scale seamlessly with our rapid growth
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior underwriters, offering insights on complex risk assessments and fostering a culture of excellence
Uphold regulatory and company standards, maintaining audit-ready documentation and coordinating with partners to align on compliance requirements
