Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Library Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of dynamic experience in data management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role around data stewardship initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of data steward concepts, methodologies, and standard processes, with hands-on experience technically implementing related tools (Collibra/Alation) and solutions.
  • Proven, consistent track record of driving improvements and implementing stewardship initiatives in a complex organizational environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical prowess and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root cause of data quality issues and develop effective and scalable remediation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive data stewardship strategy aligned with key business objectives and regulatory requirements. Including a shift from federated to a centralized operation.
  • Developing a scalable process to define and carry out data inventory collection, definition, mapping efforts, support quality standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent data integrity and accuracy.
  • Defining and implementing a definition of done for use by core data stewards, business data owners and data custodians across multiple applications and platforms.
  • Collaborating with multi-functional teams including IT, data quality, data engineering, analytics, and business partners to identify and address data stewardship related issues.
  • Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and monitor data steward collection success over time.
  • Acting as technical authority on data steward matters, providing guidance and support to executive leadership and other partners.
  • Providing guidance and recommendations around data steward tools and solutions.
  • Managing steward issues management reporting, workflow, tracking and metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry data certifications, financial services, brokerage experience a big plus.
