Vascular Tech Certified Physician Practice – Days

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Preferred Certificate in Ultrasound program
• Registered Ultrasonographer (ARDMS) – within 180 days
• 1 year Radiology Preferred
• 1 year Vascular Ultrasound Preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an out-patient setting
• Collaborates with the Vascular Surgeon and/or Cardiologist for diagnostic information on the patient
• Performs the full realm of venous and arterial studies utilizing established protocols
• Decides which images to include, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas
• Determines whether the scope of the exam should be extended, based on findings
• Maintains records that include patient information, sonographs, interpretations, files of correspondence, publications and regulations, as well as quality assurance records, such as pathology, biopsy, or post-operative reports
• Demonstrates safety for patients, staff, and self, as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines
• Observes and cares for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort
• Cleans, checks, and maintains sonographic equipment, submitting maintenance requests or performing minor repairs as necessary
• Maintains and orders supplies as needed
• Operates ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of the motion, shape, and composition of blood, organs, tissues, or bodily masses
• Prepares patient, including settings and angles
• Observes screen during scan to ensure that image produced is satisfactory for diagnostic purposes, adjusting equipment as required.

• 1 year Vascular Ultrasound Preferred
