Requirements
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 2-3 years of experience
- General cash management and treasury knowledge
- Ability to work independently and across functions
- Adept at multi-tasking while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organizational, communication, analytical and collaboration skills
- Excel proficiency
- SAP knowledge preferred
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform daily roll forward of cash positions to ensure adequate liquidity for planned cash flows, optimize deployment of excess cash balances and detect fraudulent transactions
- Complete routine cash activities including repositioning of cash balances between accounts, initiating domestic and international priority payments, depositing miscellaneous checks to bank, journalizing cash activity and reconciling cash balances
- Prepare weekly updates to cash forecast models and track forecast accuracy
- Track borrowings and letters of credit and monitor remaining availability using debt schedule; recommend credit facility borrowings or repayments; and record, reconcile and post credit facility activity including accrued interest and unused fees
- Reconcile daily treasury stock repurchases and facilitates settlement of share repurchase transactions
- Support investment reporting for global cash, reserve cash and strategic investment portfolios
- Calculate interest earned on securities and money market investments and record monthly interest accruals, accrued premium/discounts and mark-to-market adjustments
- Calculate and record net interest expense from interest rate swap
- Prepare proposal for monthly settlement of intercompany balances and initiates corresponding wire transfers
- Review and settle traded foreign currency derivatives on MISYS confirmation matching service and initiate corresponding wire transfers
- Track outstanding foreign exchange contracts and communicate settlement instructions to IDEXX’s subsidiaries and trade counterparties
- Work with regional Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll groups to ensure each area’s work reconciles with cash activity reported
- Prepare period end Treasury-related accounting entries and reconcile cash and investment accounts
- Analyze bank fees and credit card fees and work with banking partners to determine cost effective solutions
- Assist with preparing yearly budget for bank service fees and interest income
- Maintain accurate bank account records (new, closed, changes to signatories)
- Perform user acceptance testing of new Treasury systems and services
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls and internal policies and procedures (e.g., signing authority)
- Serve as primary contact between IDEXX and its banking partners for general banking matters
- Track and support key Treasury performance metrics
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Create cash flow forecasting tools to support sound cash management decisions
- Plan and manage reviews of cash flow forecasts prepared by European accounting team to identify excess cash or future funding requirements
- Manage daily international cash positions to safeguard corporate assets and manage foreign exchange exposure from non-functional currency holdings
- Direct subsidiary funding and account transfers for worldwide bank accounts
- Manage investment balances to maximize interest income and minimize interest expense
- Propose capital structure adjustments including dividends, long-term debt and operating loans
- Analyze and recommend solutions to simplify and/or automate settlement of intercompany balances on a regular basis (e.g., corporate netting center)
- Partner with International Tax Manager to streamline intercompany settlement process to collapse number of bilateral payments; enable in-country cash pooling across legal entities; and facilitate ‘on-behalf of’ foreign currency payments using intercompany charges to recognize benefit of local currency balances
- Establish in-house bank concept to enforce arms-length payment terms on inter-company balances and best utilize excess cash for intercompany funding
- Analyze overseas bank fees and account structures to identify savings opportunities
- Work with T&R Manager and lines of business each quarter to execute corporate hedging program in accordance with corporate policy
- Design, develop and implement model for quantifying foreign currency exposures and recommend appropriate level of derivative contracts for each exposure
- Monitor, model and manage non-functional currency balance sheet exposures
- Analyze realized exchange gains and losses to identify opportunities to mitigate future impacts to income statement
- Meet with line of business and regional finance teams to understand and model evolving foreign exchange exposures, including identification of natural currency hedges to mitigate foreign exchange impacts to earnings and balance sheet account translations
- Prepare exchange rate projections and related impact on exchange gains/losses in support of corporate reporting cycles
- Prepare quarterly financial close reporting pertaining to derivative accounting, including hedging effectiveness tests and other requirements outlined in authoritative accounting rules
- Assess opportunities to streamline or automate hedge effectiveness tests
- Plan and manage annual insurance renewal data gathering process; request and review application data inputs from the lines of business and corporate functions; build financial models to ensure appropriate insurance coverage for forecasted exposures
- Work with insurance advisors to respond to internal insurance coverage questions and/or other insurance matters such as policy audits
- Respond to insurance policy audits by preparing analyses showing actual exposure levels for the pertinent premium basis for the audit period
- Prepare, submit and manage insurance claims to a satisfactory resolution
- Prepare annual insurance budget
