Requirements
- Completion of a 1-2 year post-secondary education program degree in related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Solid background in logistics, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing import/export operations.
- Solid understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous products and their specific shipping and handling requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (O365).
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Adept at working under pressure in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate inbound shipments with suppliers and monitor vessel status to ensure timely arrival of materials.
- Schedule and monitor inland transportation (truck, barge, rail) ensuring adherence to customer requirements and delivery deadlines.
- Process and transmit information and instructions to co-ordinate the activities of vehicle operators and crews using dispatching equipment.
- Schedule assignments and co-ordinate activities of vehicle operators, crews and equipment.
- Advise vehicle operators of traffic and other problems.
- Dispatch personnel according to schedules and work orders.
- Follow-up on issues with work orders.
- Keep track of shipments.
- Prepare and submit reports.
- Co-ordinate activities with warehouse and production units.
- Co-ordinate traffic flow of supplies.
- Consult with production supervisor to schedule production runs in a cost and time-efficient manner.
- Prepare and maintain progress and other reports.
- Oversee operational logistics of the organization.
- Plan and organize operational logistics of the organization.
- Revise type and quantity of materials required sent for production, construction and other projects.
- Track and complete work orders.
- Co-ordinate activities with other work units or departments.

- Oversee all import/export operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Manage customs entry processes, including ISF filings and reconciliations.
- Liaise with Canada Customs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with a network of logistics providers, including carriers, freight forwarders, and storage facilities.
- Negotiate competitive rates and service agreements with transportation and logistics providers.
- Resolve delivery and other problems with suppliers.
- Prepare and process import and export documents and other forms on behalf of clients.
- Manage inventory levels to align with operational needs and perform monthly reconciliations.
- Identify discrepancies in inventory records and take corrective actions promptly.
- Identify opportunities to optimize supply chain processes and reduce costs.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding logistics-related inquiries and updates.
- Collaborate with the sales team to resolve customer issues and strengthen supplier relationships.
- Foster a collaborative team environment by effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
