Requirements

  • Technical School Certificate or a combination of education and work experience
  • Journeyman’s License preferred
  • Engineering degree, Associates, or Bachelor’s preferred
  • 4-7 years machine shop, mold shop, or toolroom experience is required
  • 5 plus years supervisory experience in a toolroom environment preferred
  • Must be results oriented
  • Computer literate and expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, Solids Works, Mold Flow, and SAP a plus

Responsibilities

  • Leads toolmakers that perform mold repairs in support of the injection molding department and provides assembly-tooling support to assembly operations for multiple sites
  • Ensures standard processes and procedures are implemented efficiently and safely to meet/exceed mold repairs and assembly tooling requirements
  • Manages Tool Room Budget and Tool Room Component Inventory
  • Manages Global Vendor Network for purchased services, parts, and new tools
  • Understands Tool Room goals and objectives, communicates them to the toolmakers and oversees their implementation
  • Report Tool Room KPIs on Safety, Cavitation, Output and Cost
  • Responsibilities include work direction and scheduling, reporting status, performance appraisals, policy compliance, and employee relations by following specific procedures and guidelines
  • Takes the lead in the development of forward-thinking strategic plans to meet future toolroom challenges, suggests improvements to enhance work area efficiency & safety and actively pursues the training of toolmakers to improve skill sets providing flexibility
  • Identify and Execute Capital Projects to improve Tool Room capability, quality, and capacity
  • Mold improvement design work
  • Provide tooling Eng. support new projects and Mold design review- provide feed-back
  • Provide periodic cost comparison on Tool Life Cycle Cost and recommendations on how to maximize value
  • Ensures compliance to all safety, EHS and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines
  • Participates on team and/or implements special projects such as quality control initiatives, or other lean objectives and corrective action programs
  • Manages all Human Resource issues and makes recommendations to Senior Operations Manager on hire, fire, and discipline decisions
  • CT Campus Technical Lead for Mold Repair Apprenticeship Program
  • Build technical skills in Tool Room team by identifying technical courses offered through the state and other institutions and scheduling the team to attend
  • Motivates the team and fosters cohesive team behaviors through role modeling
  • Performs other related work as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
