Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Engineering or a related field, Bachelor’s preferred
- 5+ years of experience working in manufacturing with tooling experience
- Experience working in Continuous Improvement processes
- Experience working within tooling systems
- Detailed knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Ability to plan and prioritize optimally.
Responsibilities
- Develops manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments; evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements.
- Recommends new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors and operating equipment, evaluating equipment capabilities and service history; evaluating vendor service and support.
- Completes equipment cost projections by analyzing investment, return, and savings.
- Monitors equipment installations by advising crews.
- Meets production requirements by designing equipment modifications as needed.
- Prepares equipment operators by conducting training; providing reference and support resources.
- Maintains process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
- Maintains equipment records by filing documents; updating equipment database.
- Protects organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
- Facilitate the comprehensive management of site tooling in alignment with the AAM Tooling System standards.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote multi-functional cooperation with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and General Stores to ensure tooling-related topics and concerns are communicated optimally.
- Lead site tooling expenses, cost per unit, and % of sales through the effective analysis of spending and consumption data.
- Identify and support Continuous Improvement activities for Quality (Scrap reduction), Productivity (Cycle Time), and Cost (CPU), following the AAM Tool Testing Procedure and Fair Testing practices.
- Maintain Technical Tooling documentation, including the Plan for Every Tool (PFET), Tooling Drawings, and Tool Layouts.
- Coordinate plant tool presetting operations to ensure capacity, delivery, organization, and accurate preset machine maintenance.
- Support the management of tooling inventory, tool reconditioning, and scrap tooling processes.
- All other duties as assigned.
