Requirements
- All prerequisites of the Tester 3 role
- Demonstrated tactical problem solving ability
- Understanding of how and where other departments overlap with QA
- Knowledge of various technology used for game development and their respective points of contact
- Knowledge and application of a variety of testing techniques and associated tools
- Ability to assess and mitigate risk for internal/external factors impacting game releases
- Understanding and prioritizing needs of games at a macro level
- Ability to prioritize own work within regular duties & responsibilities
- Ability to successfully oversee QA efforts of one or more games, projects or combination of both
- Experience mentoring Tester 3s and peers, particularly those who are struggling or require additional help
- Recognizing and redirecting testers who are incorrectly performing assigned tasks for a game or project
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders outside of QA and their game team without manager oversight
- Ability to step into *any* game (in the event of an absence) with minimal impact to team performance
Responsibilities
- Creation, implementation, and upkeep of test strategies and formal test plans for games
- Creation and upkeep of test cases and suites at the game level, integration of required/recommended department-level test passes
- Supervise and coordinate with vendor testers to execute test plans and passes
- Execute upon strategies for exploratory, performance, integration, and other complex testing tasks
- Test preparation for OS updates and API integrations
- Track and communicate QA status throughout sprints to production and QA management
- Gather and report release metrics after game clients/server deploys are pushed live
- Collaborate with QA management to execute upon department level goals
- Work closely with Producers throughout the product lifecycle, from design to release
- Escalate urgent issues found in development and live product with project stakeholders and partners
- Regularly assess QA/test processes for coverage gaps and weaknesses; determine improvement strategies, and assist with implementation
- Creation and upkeep of all game-level documentation concerning QA processes and best practices
- Possess flexibility to assist other QA members and projects as needed
- Assist with onboarding and training of new QA staff and vendors
