Requirements
- AA or 2 year technical school and/or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline
- 10+ years of experience
- 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education
- Must have an Active TOP SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a TOP SECRET Clearance.
Responsibilities
- Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment and infrastructure of telecommunications networks including telephone poles, fiber optic cables, and other voice, data, and video signals transmission equipment.
- Inspects, detects, and troubleshoots problems with telecommunications equipment and infrastructure.
- Interacts and works with customers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure delivery of telecommunications services.
- Assists telecommunication engineers in the design and analysis of telecommunication networks.
- Creates plans and drawings detailing the layout of routers, circuits, cables, switches, or other telecommunications equipment.
- Ensures network connectivity for end-users.
- May evaluate existing networks and recommend design changes to improve performance.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
