Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years prior related experience working with children and families.
  • Prior related program and staff management experience required.
  • Requires ability to effectively manage personnel; requires administrative skills to include but not limited to staff selection, development, motivation, scheduling, and evaluation.
  • Requires ability to develop, implement and deliver curriculum-based training.
  • Requires ability to read, write, and speak Spanish professionally.
  • Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
  • Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training for students ages 13-17 on various job and life skills including but not limited to career exploration, leadership, communication, marketing, computer/technical skills, character development, goal setting, and educational success.
  • Design, develop and implement a holistic teen program which provides challenging enrichment activities in a meaningful and interactive context and provides opportunities for youth development. Include all aspects of the curriculum to be used for the program including but not limited to program structure, community partnerships, overall goals, daily projects, workshops and guest speakers, evaluation tools, and marketing needs.
  • Provide environment that stimulates self-confidence, personal expression, culturally sensitivity, trust and a respect for others. Remain attentive to the physical, emotional, spiritual and academic growth of youth participating in program.
  • Guide learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate objectives to students.
  • Organize, schedule and implement program of study adapted to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the student population. Utilize current and relevant subject matter, including curricula used by other community programs and organizations adapted to students identified needs.
  • Ensure classroom environment is conducive to learning and appropriate to maturity and interest level of the students. Monitor student learning and pace instruction accordingly. Ensure expectations and standards are explained and understood by students and parents.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation for student progress through daily supervision, assignments and pre-and post-testing. Provide progress reports as required.
  • Develop and implement systems for family involvement and engagement in the program. Conduct regular parent meetings.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and rules governing student performance and conduct in the classroom.
  • Encourage students to maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior and apply those standards in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Coordinate programming with other staff members as needed to assist students to meet learning objectives. Allow access to a variety of FHC resources and facilities to provide experience in reception area, resale shop, computer lab, etc.
