Requirements
- Bachelors’ of science degree in biology or chemistry, or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory is required
- Previous Experience in Toxicology
- CLIA qualified for high complexity testing
- ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist (or equivalent) is a plus
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Follow chain of custody rules when handling specimens and samples
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior affiliation with OFNHP is preferred
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (especially Cerner Millenium and Horizon) are a plus
- Experience in a chain of custody and/or a forensic environment is a plus
- Experience with regulated and non-regulated drug testing is a plus
- Experience with automated testing systems, and/or mass spectrometers (operation and troubleshooting) is a plus
- Experience in sample preparation and purifications is a plus
- Experience in small molecule analysis is a plus
