Requirements
- substantial experience in technical program or project management specifically related to automotive safety or autonomous vehicle systems
- direct experience applying automotive/AV safety standards such as ISO 26262 (functional safety), ISO 21448 (SOTIF), or UL 4600 (AV safety assurance)
- strong understanding of system safety methodologies (e.g., FMEA, FTA, HARA, HAZOP)
- ability to clearly prioritize, manage multiple concurrent safety-critical initiatives, and maintain rigorous attention to detail
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience with demonstrated safety-critical system expertise
Responsibilities
- Act as a central point for communicating and coordinating safety-related projects across software, hardware, systems engineering, product, operations, and business teams, focusing heavily on AV safety standards and practices
- Lead technical safety reviews, including safety analyses, assessments, and compliance evaluations related to ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600, and other relevant AV safety standards
- Develop and manage detailed safety requirements, defining clear timelines and milestones, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, allocating appropriate resources, and resolving dependencies to ensure safety-critical milestones are met
- Synthesize technical safety data and analysis results, clearly communicating status, risks, and mitigation plans regularly to company leadership and key stakeholders
- Foster an internal safety culture by ensuring comprehensive integration of safety considerations into product development and operational processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior direct involvement in autonomous vehicle or advanced robotics programs
- Experience conducting safety audits, assessments, or certifications related to autonomous or automotive safety-critical systems
- Familiarity with safety case development and management
