Requirements
- Payroll or Payroll Tax Experience – (2-3) years (Tax Experience Preferred)
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Basic understanding of payroll, tax, accounting project management and/or related subject matter desired
- Basic understanding of regulatory and legislative guidelines desired.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines managing multiple tasks
- Excellent work ethic
- Team player with ability to coordinate effort
- Strong computer skills with current technical knowledge
- Demonstrated strong verbal & written communication skills required
- Proficiency in Excel is required, advanced beginner i.e. pivot tables
Responsibilities
- First point of contact in Tax Filing for clients and client teams
- Liaison with Client and Payroll Client teams – for items including but not limited to – (1) coordination of amended returns for W-2Cs, (2) for questions on notices that need research from Payroll, (3) Payroll schedule and calendar, (4) interface file submission
- Facilitate client meetings
- Educate clients and provide subject matter expertise for payroll tax filing
- Manage Tax Filing suppliers, as appropriate, to support accurate and timely delivery.
- Approve checklists – work checklist queue
- Coordinate testing for updated interfaces
- Variance analysis control point when issue needs escalation or analysis
- Review EFT setup to make sure all deposits set up for EFT payment where possible
- Monitor and communicate “Applied for” statuses to the client
- Communicate penalty and interest report to clients
- Respond timely to inquiries from Client/Payroll teams – represent TFSS in meetings
- Support and provide timely research on compliance and regulatory issues. Escalates when additional support is needed.
- Monitor metrics and be responsible for identification of process or other issues and provide suggested resolution to management
- Recognize need for process improvement and communicate to management; Support any process improvements/changes
- Respond to client communications and escalate to Operation Services Manger when needed
- Meet periodically with Operation Services Manager and report metrics and any delivery issues
- Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and filing local, state and federal payroll tax returns.
- Responsible for calculation P&I and abatement letter request
- Research and resolve payroll tax notices in a timely manner
- Responsible for peer review audits of closed agency notices and amended returns
- Identifies and resolves escalations or complex issues with strong emphasis to associated patterns, trends and root cause analysis.
- Process lead focused on Agency Relations processes
- Responsible for identification of issues; drive change for related improvements
- Communicates effectively with the client and internal partners regarding ongoing operations and problem solving with analysis/resolution of tax related issues
- Support offshoring initiatives
- Support formal internal and external audits
- Support and provide investigation on regulatory and compliance issues
- Properly research agency notices and document SOP defect
- Support testing and maintenance of tax filing software – MasterTax
- Work and support new implementation of new clients
- Identifies and implements process improvements
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
