Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics Energy Management, Engineering, Finance, Data Science or a related field.
- Proven track record in setting up and managing large loads in the Texas and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) regions.
- Extensive commercial experience with both load and generation projects.
- Expertise in navigating and understanding market rules and regulatory policies that govern energy management in the Texas and Southwest Power Pool regions, as well as broader RTO/ISO areas.
- Strong understanding of energy markets, load forecasting, grid operations, and energy efficiency technologies.
- Knowledge of retail electricity markets, regulatory frameworks, and utility policies.
- Project Management experience; ability to meet project timelines and allocate resources effectively to achieve negotiation milestones.
- Extensive experience in data center energy management with a focus on energy optimization and operational efficiency.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance at the state level (Texas and surrounding regions preferred).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with relevant software tools for energy management and regulatory reporting.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, outside counsel, and regulatory bodies.
- Leadership skills and capable of negotiating contracts to set up the platform.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate retail tariff agreements, full-service contracts, and sleeving agreements with LSEs to meet the specific energy needs of large commercial and industrial clients.
- Lead and manage the process of setting up large loads within the ERCOT and Southwest Power Pool regions, ensuring compliance with all operational and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and optimize contract structures across multiple markets. Provide expert guidance on data center energy management, including optimizing energy usage, reducing costs, and ensuring efficiency for large-scale clients.
- Stay informed on federal, state, and local energy regulations impacting retail tariffs and service agreements. Navigate and advise on regulatory requirements at the state level, with a specific focus on energy policy, compliance, and reporting for RTOs/ISOs.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop long-term energy strategies that maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance.
- Act as the primary liaison with LSEs, maintaining strong relationships to support effective communication and negotiation across multiple markets.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, Masters in Finance, Energy Systems or related area degree preferred.
