Requirements

  • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI’s potential impact on the function or industry.
  • 6+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration, engineering, or operations.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role overseeing Linux engineering teams.
  • Strong background in Red Hat Linux administration, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Experience managing on-call operations and incident resolution processes.
  • Experience with ITIL, SRE, or DevOps methodologies in a Linux operational setting.
  • Familiarity with RPM package management, YUM repositories, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred).
  • Knowledge in Bash or Python scripting, Linux CLI tools, and automation for operational efficiencies.
  • Strong understanding of Linux security, vulnerability management, and system hardening best practices.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management tools such as Puppet, Foreman, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with containerization, Kubernetes, or infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the OS Engineering Linux Center of Expertise (CoE) team, ensuring high performance and operational excellence.
  • Oversee Linux system operations, including incident response, problem management, and system performance tuning.
  • Manage on-call processes and ensure team readiness for handling Linux infrastructure escalations.
  • Define and implement best practices for Linux system administration, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve automation, monitoring, and CI/CD integration.
  • Drive process improvements for OS lifecycle management, patching, and system hardening.
  • Lead efforts in vulnerability management and remediation, ensuring compliance with security standards.
  • Partner with Engineering, Cloud, and Security teams to align Linux operations with business goals.
  • Provide strategic direction on emerging Linux technologies, automation frameworks, and tooling.
  • Establish and track KPIs for operational efficiency, uptime, and incident response times.
  • Advocate for continuous learning and skill development within the Linux CoE team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Foreman, or Ansible.
  • Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure models.
