Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or a related role in software development, scientific computing, or with software products supporting inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) technology.
- Ability to interpret complex scientific workflows and translate them into user-friendly software features.
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar Agile tools including the ability to use these tools to report out on team progress toward goals on a regular cadence.
- Experience with Balsamiq or similar wireframe tools or experience with Figma or similar prototyping tools.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and hands-on experience managing software development backlogs.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage the product backlog for new product introduction and sustaining initiatives, ensuring that features are well-defined, prioritized, and aligned with the overall product vision and strategy.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, UX designers, and business stakeholders to translate high-level requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria and provide demonstrations of completed work for feedback and alignment.
- Work closely with Agile development teams to guide sprint planning, backlog grooming, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Work with business stakeholders to conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer interviews to understand industry trends, scientific challenges, and user pain points.
- Partner with R&D teams to explore emerging technologies, algorithms, and data analytics that can enhance software capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards relevant to software products in life sciences and diagnostics (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11).
- Act as the primary liaison between software engineering, marketing, and commercial teams to align product roadmaps with business objectives.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and user adoption after product releases.
- Champion a customer-centric mindset and advocate for usability, scalability, and performance improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement by gathering feedback from internal teams and end-users, iterating on product design and functionality.
Preferred Qualifications
- User experience with Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) technology; working with scientific or laboratory software applications with this technology (e.g., LIMS, ELN, data analysis tools).
- Previous experience working in a cross-functional R&D environment with researchers and scientists.
- Technical knowledge of software architectures, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and DevOps practices.
- Understanding of compliance requirements for regulated software (ISO, FDA, HIPAA, GDPR).
