Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current student of an accredited formal program in echo and vascular ultrasound
- Additional relevant courses and/or degrees preferred
Responsibilities
- Performs echo and vascular studies as required, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, contrast echocardiography, carotid duplex studies, upper/lower extremity arterial testing, upper/lower extremity venous studies, some abdominal vascular studies
- Maintains an excellent understanding of normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy as well as pathology
- Diligently prepares appropriate reports for echo and vascular studies
- Learns the department/hospital routines in the various hospitals served
- Assists with quality assurance on an ongoing basis
- Maintains rapport with physicians and other hospital staff
- Participates in on-call, weekend, and holiday schedules
- Ensures that appropriate care is delivered to patients in accordance with medical orders and is documented in clinical records
- Participates in student education programs
