Requirements
- Ability to manage several projects concurrently
- Proficiency in technical report writing
- Strong communication skills are required in the form of written and verbal modes; capable of effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to interface and perform in a team-based environment as well as can accomplish tasks independently
- Willingness to meet client schedules and project deadlines
- Proficient in the use of RISA, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 5 years of experience minimum required in bulk material handling design consulting industry
- Experience and understanding of the following design codes: ACI, AISC, IBC
- Applicable Certifications: MSHA Miner Training (form 5000-23) Part 46 and 48, OSHA 10, Confined Space Entry Training
Responsibilities
- Has the ability to read and understand construction documents and comprehend critical information necessary for data collection during and after the inspection
- Observe various structures/silo types [concrete and steel] in the field and perceive structural deficiencies
- Has the ability to collect accurate measurements and representative photos during an inspection and record concise notes of the observations
- Inspectors will be required to perform inspections from personnel lifts or from cable rigging on material storage silos
- Inspections often include interior confined space entry within a silo to observe structural elements
- Collaborate with facility personnel to establish inspection objectives and provide guidance to rigging sub-consultants for completion of scheduled tasks
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients while onsite and effectively describe field observations in produced reports
- Can write a detailed technical report that describes the history of the structure, inspection methods utilized, observations, and conclusions and recommendations for future use
- Technical reports will generally agree with IMEG standards for deliverables; however the inspector will be responsible for the uniquely descriptive content
- Perform analysis, work with designers for development of design level repair drawings for observed deficiencies during inspections
- Design engineering experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood is applicable
- Has the ability to work alongside IMEG’s design department to successfully direct drawing progress and complete code compliant structural drawings
- Out-of-state travel to inspection sites can range between 1-2 weeks per month, depending on workload and performance
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
- 6 years of experience preferred in bulk material handling design consulting industry
