Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering or civil engineering with a structural emphasis (including structural analysis and steel and concrete design)
- 5 years of related work experience
- Professional engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain PE license within one year
- Work experience with AutoCAD or Revit and structural engineering analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, or MathCAD
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
- Interest in leading and mentoring entry-level engineers
- A flexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Responsibilities
- Design and analysis
- Project management
- Preparation of plans and specifications
- Report writing
- Cost estimating
- Site inspections
- Minor construction observation
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years of related work experience
- Experience within industrial or heavy commercial industries
- Master’s degree in structural engineering or civil engineering with a structural emphasis
- Experience with 3D software such as Revit
- Experience in the consulting industry
- Experience leading and mentoring entry level engineers
- Strong technical skills in a wide range of structural analysis and design
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated project organization and management skills
