Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain management, business or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of sourcing experience
  • 2+ years of managing Asia based suppliers in commodities
  • Working knowledge in all or any of the following areas: plastic injection molding, compression molding, stamping, forging, CNC machining, die-casting, softgoods and related manufacturing processes
  • Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should cost modeling, contract negotiation and supply base management
  • Experience with cost drivers and experience building bottoms-up or should cost models

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical component sourcing strategy which ensures that our supply base is capable of meeting Reality Lab’s current and future technical and business requirements.
  • Continually benchmark the mechanical industry to monitor cost and technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the supply chain.
  • Drive early supplier engagement to ensure our mechanical suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps.
  • Establish mechanical supplier selection criteria, evaluate suppliers, manage the supplier selection process, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with hardware engineering, manufacturing design engineering, and supplier quality team.
  • Negotiate purchase agreement, contracts, and SOW with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty and service terms.
  • Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and non-cancellable/non-returnable (NCNR) supply issues.
  • Lead design and cost trade-off conversation during development stages to influence production design and manufacturing processes for the best decision of the product.
  • Initiate, prepare, constantly adjust and execute the mass production plan of the new product collaborating with product operations and tech operations team through the end of product life. Manage the negotiation and closing phase of the end of product life.
  • Develop and implement supplier performance measurement system and conduct periodic supplier business reviews with the management and cross functional team.
  • Lead total cost reduction program to achieve the lowest possible total cost which covers product cost, transportation cost, inventory cost and cost of quality.
  • Utilizes should-cost models to inform negotiation strategies, identify cost reduction opportunities, and optimize supplier pricing.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams within Meta and supply base to drive product and process improvements.
  • Builds relationships with peers and stakeholders on organization-wide initiatives, obtaining alignment on objectives and articulating strategy, with a focus on driving growth and innovation in mechanical categories.
  • Willingness to travel (10-15% of time) and open to work with different time zones.

  • Experience with high volume, consumer electronics products
  • Experience working with CMs, ODMs, OEMs
  • Sourcing experience in mechanicals
