Requirements

  • 6+ years of commercial insurance expertise and leadership, including strong understanding of Canadian market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition, and distribution
  • Proven influence skills in communicating corporate vision, facilitate cooperation, drive effective change, and develop regional capabilities
  • Strong financial and business acumen, client centricity, ownership mentality, and balanced orientation towards growth & profitability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and executive credibility, including the ability to build relationships at all levels internally and externally with customers and intermediaries
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Organizational intelligence with track record of stakeholder management and leadership in a large, global, matrixed environment

Responsibilities

  • Engage and collaborate effectively with business and functional leaders across Canada, to articulate a shared vision and support action plans to deliver market-leading performance
  • Take a portfolio view across business lines to capture insights, perceive risks, and identify opportunities inherent in a dynamic business, economic, regulatory, and competitive environment, ensuring holistic value delivery to our clients and key broker partners
  • Facilitate alignment across Underwriting, Distribution, Claims, Finance, Actuarial, HR and others to promote One AIG vision
  • Support communication and alignment of strategy across the Canadian Business
  • Enhance portfolio management tools and application to encourage optimal portfolio distribution and capital allocation
  • External market awareness, following market trends, results
  • Assist the President & CEO, Canada, as needed, to prepare and deliver external presentations to key partners, clients, or industry events
  • Participate in Canada ELT, member of SLT, leading Canada UW Meetings
  • Assist the President & CEO, Canada, in tracking key strategic initiatives, communicating, marshalling resources, facilitating execution, identifying and proposing corrections and tactical initiatives as needed, and measuring results
  • Coordinate the planning process in partnership with Finance and LOB strategy owners, helping to define and measure KPIs and milestones to drive accountability
  • Participate in the Business Review process, including giving guidance on structure and content, capturing insights and making connections across lines
  • Ensure all Canadian Strategic Initiatives and CEO Priorities are coordinated, tracked and executed
  • Oversee with FP&A regular business performance and ad-hoc reporting, including defining, compiling, analyzing, and/ or synthesizing data Monthly Reporting to NA Leadership
  • Collaborate with and on behalf of business lines with the Global Data Office to ensure data and KPIs are accessible and actionable, leading from insights to impact
  • Promote continuous improvement of data accuracy, quality, and relevancy through influence leadership of Business, Distribution, and Operations partners
