Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or college, or equivalent knowledge / experience
- 10+ years of experience in Operations Finance/OTR Finance or similar
- People Leader experience
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Steam Power Services CFO and Segment finance leadership, ensuring proactive and predictable financial management of the portfolio, thereby facilitating timely decision-making and optimizing both short-term and long-term financial performance.
- Lead & develop the project accounting team to simplify and create world class standard processes & policies.
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies for project accounting process harmonization and standardization across business segments, enhancing efficiency and aligning with organizational goals.
- Champion change management initiatives and drive process improvements, establishing performance metrics to ensure alignment with business objectives and achieve significant efficiency gains.
- Develop and deliver training programs to build capabilities and ensure adherence to standardized processes.
- Oversee all financial aspects of project accounting for Steam Power Services projects including project setup, actuals booking, revenue recognition, manual journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Partner with the segment Project Managers on the margin review process to enable the Segment leadership teams & ITR finance to optimize the performance of contracts in backlog.
- Partner cross-functionally with the segment operations teams & fulfillment leaders in the pacing process to deliver baseline financial case to ITR Finance.
- Partner with FP&A on the financial submissions for all planning cycles, pacing, and monthly operating rhythms.
- Ensure financials of projects are in line with GAAP (e.g., revenue recognition, journal entries, etc.) and compliant with statutory regulations & global accounting policies.
- Establish process to ensure legal entity financial quality (i.e., documentation for regulatory purposes, cash tax impact implications, etc.), and act as a point of contact (POC) for audit related inquiries.
- Leverage experience with pacing, GAAP, and Stat & Tax financials to streamline the connectivity between these areas.
- Support the financial reconciliation component of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including PMO, fulfillment, services, and finance, to develop and execute a unified plan that supports business objectives.
- Communicate balance sheet position to senior management on a quarterly basis.
- Provide internal and external audit support relating to project accounting activity, balance sheet and P&L.
- Drive a spirit & letter of excellence in Controllership (e.g., adherence to GE policies, transfer of best practices, internal controls, etc.).
- Champion LEAN culture, lead transformation efforts in alignment with broader finance strategy, guide continuous improvement of processes, & prioritize automation opportunities.
- Identify, recruit, grow, and retain talent with appropriate levels of expertise to deliver on the daily management and/or transformational priorities of the organization.
- Foster strong partnership with and maintain accountability for execution performed by third party vendors on behalf of the Services Operations Finance organization.
- Maintain systems and processes for analyzing and reporting operating results to management, collaborating with IT to drive system automation and optimize processes as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid understanding of key operational disciplines, including project management & planning, sourcing, contract management, engineering, construction & commissioning, tax and legal
- Prioritization skills: proven ability to prioritize effectively and drive performance of the organization
- Ability to clearly communicate financial results and operational issues to various audiences and levels in the organization
