Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on airframes or structural components.
- Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of airframe and aircraft shell design projects.
- Proven experience in applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to airframes and aircraft shells.
- Strong understanding of material properties and selection criteria, with practical experience in injection molding processes and material choices.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Fusion 360.
Responsibilities
- Read through the Production Guide
- Manufacture a product from start to finish
- Demonstrate a high level understanding of product subsystems
- Complete required onboarding
- Collaborate with team members and other relevant teams to develop and refine the design philosophy of the next generation product
- Begin transitioning our current design repository to develop standardization
- Manage relationships with suppliers throughout the creation of product molds and prototype parts
- Confidently work within the team and maintain CAD standards
- Begin work on the next generation product, incorporating lessons learned from previous work
- Develop and implement standardized processes for design studies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the design of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) is a plus.
