Requirements

  • BSME or equivalent; MSME with 10+ years or PhD with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in CAD (SolidWorks), GD&T, and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) including thermal packages (e.g. Icepak, Fluent, etc.).
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to design robotic joints with actuators, gears, encoders, and brakes.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities and ambiguity while aligning with organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and reliability-focused design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute mechanical designs informed by analyses, including FEA, CFD, thermal modeling, and experimental characterization.
  • Guide cross-functional teams in improving existing designs and defining requirements for future systems.
  • Mentor peers in modeling, testing, and optimization practices.
  • Design detailed mechanical assemblies and prototypes with a focus on function, manufacturability, cost, and safety.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate and refine mechanical systems.
  • Generate mechanical drawings for components using processes like machining, casting, injection molding, and stamping.
  • Contribute to technical project planning, budgets, and resource management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate research or advanced academic work.
  • Experience in regulated environments, particularly medical device development and launches.
