Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of experience, or 10 years of experience with a Master’s degree; 6 years of experience with PHD
- Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite of tools – Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
- Must be able to draft and review design documents, drawings, specification and test plans
- Must be able to recommend materials selections, and process selections for welding, metallurgy, and corrosion.
- Collaborates with systems engineers, design engineers, project managers, reliability engineers, and external customers for establishing corrosion best practices for galvanic assessments, service life predictions, failure analysis, 3D modeling and simulation, specifications, and processes.
Responsibilities
- Work with design engineers in selection and application of non-metallic materials systems, This includes environmental coatings, adhesives, sealants, composite materials, and supporting hardware.
- Create Material, Process, Component Specifications or Source Control Documents to meet Program Requirements
- Lead and Conduct qualifications of new materials/components, processes, and ageing studies to meet program service life.
- Work with manufacturing and subcontractors to resolve qualification, producibility, and test issues with non-metallic parts and their related processes.
- Manage Bill-of-Materials, new part requests, part objects, and part attributes in a Product Lifecycle Management System.
- Support Supply Chain with component procurement requirements, selection of suppliers, and procurement issues
- Tailoring and allocating of non-metallic requirements to System, Subsystem, and Unit Level Specifications.
- Support Program Subcontractors with non-metallic Part requirements interpretation and review of Subcontractor Data Requirements Lists (SDRLs)
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Corrosion Engineering or metallurgy or Welding Engineering
- Familiarity with AAMP / NACE Corrosion Certification/s
- Understanding of process/procedure development, control, and improvement
- Stress Corrosion Cracking Test planning experience
- Corrosion, allowable, service life Test plan writing
- Demonstrated passion for corrosion, kinetics, and thermodynamics of materials.
- Demonstrated passion for being a creative and out-of-the box thinker
- Allowable Test Plan Writing Experience
- Negotiation soft skills
- Experience reviewing & approving materials and processes to be added to Program Approved Materials and processes list
- Experience with Service Life Testing, Corrosion testing, Allowable Testing, and failure analysis
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter, NX solid modeling
- Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
- Demonstrated experience in making sound data-driven decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
- Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
- Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA
- Experience with engineering drawing review
- Experience and knowledge of corrosion prevention specifications and processes
