Requirements
- A first-principles mindset — you question assumptions, reframe problems from the ground up, and approach challenges with a foundational understanding rather than relying solely on precedent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on automation and equipment design.
- Proven experience designing, building, implementing, and sustaining automated systems in a production environment (Robotics a plus).
- Experience in semiconductor, solar, EV, or similar high-tech industries, with an understanding of their processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Onshape) for equipment design.
- Hands-on experience with building automation from assembly drawing to manufacturing and production.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as machining, assembly, welding, or material handling.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and Arena software.
- Experience with document control and release processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the performance and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and reliability.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Monitor equipment performance metrics, analyze data, and identify trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead efforts to upgrade equipment to align with evolving production requirements.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Conduct time studies, root cause analyses, and risk assessments to support process improvements and troubleshooting.
- Design, prototype, and build custom automated equipment tailored to specific manufacturing needs.
- Integrate sensors, robotics, and control systems to create fully automated solutions.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for equipment design.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment on the production floor.
- Collaborate with device design teams and process equipment/platform design teams to ensure seamless integration of automated systems with existing manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to integrate automated equipment with existing systems.
- Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality assurance, and production.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, maintenance manuals, and training materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic coding: RSLogix, Ignition, Python or C+/C++ a plus.
