Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and 5+ years SUAS flight test engineering experience.
  • Previous expertise and working knowledge of the National Airspace System and UAS operating rules and regulations thereof.
  • Must have a complete understanding of and passion for SUAS/Quadcopter engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expansive knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Strong software and documentation experience.
  • Must have strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel as required for planning and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Determine and develop various approaches to achieve T&E goals for a Small UAS/Quadcopter and help guide and perform the completion of test activities.
  • Focus heavily on new SUAS/Quadcopter aircraft development, with an emphasis in electronics, avionics, propulsion, flight characteristics, rugged design, and quality at scale.
  • Conduct system and sub-system level T&E of hardware and software.
  • Support or lead in test planning, establishing test measures of success, test conducting (ground and flight), analyzing test performance, and driving process improvement/development.
  • Travel approximately 60%.
