Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in relevant scientific discipline, such as Pulp and Paper, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering.
- 5 years or more of related technical experience in mill, production or staff R&E assignments.
- Track record of research and development success, as well as an understanding of papermaking processes.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead with technical and scientific expertise in tissue chemistry and processes.
- Conceive, develop, validate, and share ideas leading to new or improved products, processes, materials, or systems aligned with business unit objectives.
- Work individually and collaboratively with a cross-functional team that includes R&E, Supply Chain, Mill Operations, Procurement, and external material suppliers.
- Work with vendors to maintain and improve relationships ensuring win-win propositions for all companies.
- Coach and mentor team members to increase technical understanding and ability to execute programs to improve business results.
- Implement appropriate internal controls and standards to ensure compliance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
- Drive a culture of protected and documented innovation to protect and defend K-C proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred 10 years or more of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or to lead small teams to complete assignments and related activities in an acceptable manner.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to mine technical data to provide clear direction as to opportunity areas is critical.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach less-experienced scientists.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to discuss technical issues to mill or staff positions.
