Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, NLP, and recommender systems for content classification and personalization.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Experience in working with large-scale datasets, distributed computing (Spark, Hadoop), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Strong understanding of metadata extraction, named entity recognition (NER), and semantic search technologies.
  • Proven ability to scale and optimize ML models for production environments.
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers and data scientists, fostering a high-performance, innovative culture.
  • Define the technical vision and roadmap for content classification, entity extraction, and recommendation systems aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of scalable machine learning models and algorithms to enhance content discovery.
  • Work closely with Product, Data Science, ML, and Content teams to develop solutions that improve content enrichment, metadata quality, and personalization.
  • Ensure high system reliability, performance, and efficiency in processing large-scale content datasets.
  • Drive research and prototyping of NLP, deep learning, and knowledge graph-based techniques for content enrichment and personalization.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts and project progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vector search technologies (e.g., Vespa.ai, SpannerDB, ElasticSearch etc) for content retrieval.
  • Hands-on experience with graph databases and knowledge graphs.
  • Background in content/media industries and understanding of editorial workflows.
