Responsibilities

  • Supporting engineering staff through technical experience and expertise.
  • Act as engineering and process technical lead for key plant projects and technologies.
  • Project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions.
  • Execute process improvement plans using a variety of Quality and Continuous Process Improvement tools, including but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, SPC, engineering studies, DOE, and Gauge R&R.
  • Analyze customer complaints and field actions; coordinates engineering solutions and corrective actions.
  • Lead Manufacturing Nonconformance investigations and apply good engineering practices and true root cause determination to reduce the risk of repeat Nonconformance’s.
  • Implement corrective and preventative actions to improve manufacturing’s operational efficiencies.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing change control and qualification documents, approving access requests, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Monitor and track key engineering metrics; MNC closure, CAPA completion, ECO/PPC closure and impact to product release, periodic review Team.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Coordinate/support other departments to ensure smooth execution of work.
  • Provide technical advice to other manufacturing departments and other engineers.
  • Represent engineering department in production startup meetings.
  • Oversight of engineering safety practices and adherence.
  • Follow all Alcon and government safety regulations and promote positive safety behaviors.
  • Facilitate safety training for engineers and monitor contractor and vendor safety practices.
  • Review new equipment design & installations for adherence to Alcon and OSHA safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and lead safety and quality improvement initiatives.
