Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • 10+ years of experience in fluids and mechanical systems/components
  • Experience developing, integrating, and certifying aerospace systems for flight
  • Experience with fluid/gas components i.e., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
  • Experience performing flow and pressure calculations as well as structural and thermal analysis of fluid systems
  • Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.)
  • Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo Preferred)
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance
  • Proven understanding of material properties and treatments
  • Solid understanding of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Familiar with either agile or waterfall project management
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Fluids systems design and development, including developing specifications and procurement of components, designing parts and assemblies in CAD (Creo Preferred), performing trade studies, and analysis of test data
  • Interpreting and generating Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using AutoCAD
  • Design and/or create specifications for fluid/gas components i.e., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
  • Develop and maintain interface definitions between fluid systems and other vehicle subsystems
  • Design and analyze custom components for fluid, thermal, and structural applications
  • Perform component verification of internally and externally sourced components to company standards
  • Coordinate with other subsystem teams to ensure operability and fitment
  • Good project management skills are necessary for this role to be successful including vendor management
  • Mentorship of junior engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field
  • Experience with hydrogen and oxygen systems
  • Experience developing, managing and controlling assembly level cost and schedule estimates
  • Experience providing status to the subsystem for high level program and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) inputs and lower-level subsystem/assembly
  • Experience Identifying, tracking and reporting assembly risks and opportunities and elevating to leadership
  • Hands-on experience building and testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components/systems
