Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from accredited law school, admission to one or more State bars.
  • 8+ years’ relevant legal experience.
  • Experience advising on digital wallets and payment systems as well as advising and negotiating complex commercial agreements in the payments industry.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and industry standards applicable to payments industry.
  • Experience working in or proven ability to learn quickly and support new areas of regulation and technology.
  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively in fast-paced and collegial team environment.
  • Ability to think practically and be solution oriented.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day creative counseling and advice on complex legal issues to the wallet and payments business teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Advises on, drafts, reviews and negotiates a variety of complex commercial agreements and strategic technology transactions with financial institutions, merchant acquirers, payment gateways, payment processors, and service providers.
  • Proactively manages large-scale initiatives and collaborates with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to enable business objectives.
  • Stays abreast of and advises on legislative, regulatory, and industry developments that apply to the business.
  • Partners with Risk teams and other members of the Legal Department (e.g., IP, Marketing, Regulatory) to provide solution-oriented support to business teams while balancing potential legal, regulatory, and other risks.
  • Supports the company’s commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
