Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields, or 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience supporting DOCSIS technologies, including DAA and legacy CMTS.
  • Experience working in lab environments, developing and performing test plans, and conducting lab setups.
  • Experience utilizing RF test equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, Noise Generators, etc.).
  • Experience using tools to simulate customer traffic (ByteBlower, IXIA).
  • Strong DOCSIS end-to-end troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Familiarity with DOCSIS CPE devices and their interoperability.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Applies tactical and strategic approaches to design and new product introduction; balances constraints and opportunities to drive engineering consensus for new product introduction and methodology.
  • Provide support for Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) and legacy Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) technologies.
  • Set up lab, test environments, develop, and execute DOCSIS-specific test plans.
  • Work with DOCSIS CPE devices to ensure proper functionality and performance.
  • Debug and troubleshoot technical issues related to DOCSIS and CPE devices.
  • Ensure interoperability between different DOCSIS devices and systems.
  • Collaborate with Cable Labs and other industry-specific entities to improve test plans and define requirements.
  • Work with CPE device vendors to isolate and resolve issues impacting customer experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Document test plans, results, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Represents the work team and organization as the prime technical contact on assigned projects.
  • Interfaces across the ecosystem to ensure thorough vetting of the solution.
  • Leads matrixed teams and serves as network technical liaison with adjacent product and engineering teams to ensure smooth introduction of new products.
  • Produces, reviews, and coaches junior engineers’ job roles in detailed design work, SMOP creation, and operations execution of complex change across a converged environment.
  • Work in a heavily matrixed environment and act as an integrated team member or leader with virtual teams to shorten the R&D and Design cycle for new products and network evolution.
  • Creates and documents high-level, detailed network designs.
  • Communicates applicable design guidelines and provides guidance to ensure compliance.
  • Strong initiative to build internal and external relationships with minimal supervision/direction from management.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DOCSIS 3.1/4.0 and newer DAA/vCMTS technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of RF and network protocols.
  • Industry certifications in DOCSIS-related technologies.
  • Experience scripting in programming languages (Python, Java, Go, etc.).
  • Experience with GitHub for revision and configuration documentation.
