Requirements
- BS in Accounting/Finance
- Five years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong organizational skills and a high degree of professionalism
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact within the accounting and business operation areas
- Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently
Responsibilities
- Support the oversight of operational processes impacting the fixed asset records across the US Utilities
- Assist in the monthly fixed asset process review and oversight of key internal control and unitization processes related to fixed asset records
- Drive efficiencies and ensure the adequacy, execution, and documentation of internal controls impacting fixed asset records
- Provide direction and oversight to staff in performing key internal controls and unitization activities
- Meet deadlines in a timely and accurate manner and track team progress against internal unitization goals
- Assist the Fixed Assets Accounting Manager in reviewing and approving fixed asset transactions, including additions, depreciation, disposals and retirements, accruals, and impairments
- Provide support to address all fixed asset-related audit and tax department queries
- Ensure proper recognition and accounting of fixed assets for US Utility businesses in accordance with GAAP and FERC accounting
- Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives relating to digital and growth strategies
- Review current processes and identify improvement opportunities
- Prepare reports and analysis as required or requested
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Utility, Power or Energy industry
- Experience with fixed asset subledger accounting
- Knowledge of US Utility industry accounting practices and rate making principle
- Knowledge of the FERC Uniform System of Accounts
- Experience in SAP ERP accounting system
- Power Plan experience
- Experience with the month end accounting close process
- CPA preferred
