Requirements
- Radiology Technologist/ IR Technologist: 2 year general radiology and or Interventional radiology ARRT registry IEMA license CPR within in 3 months of hire
- Ultrasound Technologist: Graduate of AMA approved School of Ultrasound 2 year’s experience in Abdomen 2 year’s experience in OBGYN
- Nuclear Medicine: Licensed by the ILL. Dept. of Nuclear Safety Registry eligible CPR Certification, 1 year experience preferred
- CT Technologist: 2 years’ experience, ARRT, IEMA, CPR, CT Certification within 1 year
- Mammography: 3-5 experience in Radiology, ARRT registered, Mammography ARRT registered IEMA licensure CPR certified
- Ultrasound Vascular: Associates degree in Allied Health or Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science preferred -Typically requires 1 year experience in Abdomen and OB/GYN -Typically requires 1 year experience in Vascular exams
- MRI Technologist: ARRT, ARMRIT registered as an MR technologist OR ARRT registry eligible or unlimited state license, and 6 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience and registered within 6 months of hire date
- Cardiac Sonographer: Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Responsibilities
- Positioning of patients and proper selection of technical factors and equipment to obtain scans of optimal quality, making use of any necessary immobilization techniques
- Ability to position, transfer and immobilize patients for procedures to ensure optimal quality exams are obtained
- Ability to operate equipment when required to perform procedures as requested throughout the hospital
- Ability to assist physicians with various recommendations for obtaining optimal studies by suggesting selections for technical factors for procedures
- Delivery of patient care and in accordance with department standards of continued quality improvement
- Maintains a timely flow of patients in room assignments or work areas
- Treat all patients and customers with respect and compassion
- Transports patient when indicated to meet customer needs
- Prepares patient rooms by making sure all needed supplies and equipment are available
- Utilize appropriate phone etiquette
- Provide an environment conducive to privacy for all patients
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to the hospital policies
- Follows in-and-out patient identification policy
- Documentation for department records (i.e.: inventories of supplies and patient statistics) to ensure adequate supplies and proper patient records
- Maintains correct patient records as required. Assembles daily patient schedules and prepares patient folders to enable the department to properly preserve patient’s records
- Prepares rooms ensuring that necessary equipment and supplies are available before performing procedures
- Knows and operates Hospital Information Computer Systems as required
- Responsible for securing pertinent history from the patient for each procedure, in order to provide the radiologist with adequate information before film interpretation
- Obtains patient history to ensure that the radiologist will have pertinent information explaining why the diagnostic test is being performed
- Works closely with the radiologist when requested to ensure an optimal outcome for each procedure performed
- Maintains positive guest relations when dealing with patients, fellow employees or any personnel encountered during daily activities
- Compliance with established Accrediting Organization and hospital safety standards to ensure patient and staff well being at all times
- Maintains annual CPR certification to further ensure safety of patients in department
- Ability to operate all equipment in a safe manner in accordance with hospital and department’s policies and procedures on safety
- Uses standard Precautions/protects self from bodily fluid exposure
- Maintain hospital dept. disaster, fire, and evacuation policy
- Promotes patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives
- Attends mandatory in-services / meetings
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work overtime when needed and respond to work at short notice (eg. Disaster Call back)
- Ability to be flexible in starting times to meet departmental demands. (weekend rotation, flexible hours, other shifts)
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to participate in on-call programs and available to department needs with minimal notice
- Ability to show excellent technical competence
- Ability to practice high quality patient care – very good communication skills – follows age specific guidelines
- Ability to deal with extremely ill patients – can handle stressful situations professionally
- Ability to make independent professional decisions using good judgement skills
- Ability to function independently with minimal assistance in performing job
- Prior experience with various age groups is preferred
