Requirements

  • 5-7 years’ experience in procurement and/or logistics, ideally in the sport’s industry
  • Experience negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers
  • Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues
  • Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and evolving work
  • Required proven ability of building good interpersonal relationships with people across the organization, while balancing assertiveness with diplomacy
  • Ability to implement and manage change effectively

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine the project timeline and key deliverables for the sport equipment project including procurement timelines
  • In coordination with each sport manager, research and analyze the market for sport equipment for each sport
  • Create a warehousing/storage plan and identify all needs with LA28 Logistics
  • Develop a clear sport equipment dissolution plan in coordination with Logistics, Finance and sport stakeholders
  • Build a sport equipment database estimated at 4000+ line items that covers all equipment to procure for all competition and training venues as well as any sport testing
  • Develop all types of supplier agreements in coordination with other LA28 Functions including Procurement, Legal, Finance and Commercial, to submit to IOC and IPC for approval
  • Develop a pre-Games/testing and Games-time operating plan including workforce plans and all storage requirements
  • In consultation with each Sport Manager, identify for the organization any potential partnership opportunities with suppliers or vendors
  • With LA28 Procurement, develop procurement timelines for all equipment and any processes specific to sport equipment
  • Research lead times for the procurement of larger sport equipment items, insuring they align with any testing activities for the specific sport/discipline and Games-time as well as aligning with venue build timelines
  • Develop RFPs in consultation with the LA28 Procurement team and with sport specific and technical input from LA28 Sport Managers
  • Support with supplier negotiations
  • Educate suppliers on the rules surrounding trademarks on sport equipment at the Olympic and Paralympic Games
  • Work with LA28’s designers to confirm all Look elements related to sport equipment
  • Coordinate with Sport Managers to receive all IF approvals related to sport equipment design
  • Educate suppliers on the design process and requirements including approvals for application
  • Develop the receiving process for all sport equipment as well as distribution to venues
  • Recruit, on-board and lead sport equipment team members to support the management and delivery of sport equipment procurement and operations
  • Manage and refine the sport equipment budget, providing updates as requested
  • Report on the schedule of deliverables for the sport equipment project, keeping leadership briefed on any issues and identifying risks
