Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of professional experience in automotive production / Conveyor planning and programming, with expertise in achieving stable production processes and in-depth knowledge of production equipment and operations.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or similar in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Knowledge about VASS 6 preferred
  • Be capable to set up a new Siemens System, Bus topology, interfaces to external devices like Lifters, Drive Systems, Scada System, …
  • Be capable to work with the TIA Safety tool.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve complex mechanical, electrical, and operational issues that arise in conveyor systems.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and control software used in modern conveyor systems for automating and monitoring operations.
  • Be able to investigate root cause and correct complex error situations.
  • Understanding of mechanics, materials, and structures involved in conveyor design and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Be a part of the Bodyshop Maintenance Team
  • Overseeing or directly involved in the installation of conveyor systems. This includes ensuring that all components are correctly assembled, integrated with other systems (e.g., control systems, sorting mechanisms), and ready for operation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and automation specialists to integrate PLCs with other control systems, such as Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and robotics, to create seamless and synchronized manufacturing workflows.
  • Configure PLC hardware components, including input/output modules, communication interfaces, and networking protocols, to meet the requirements of specific manufacturing applications. Ensure compatibility and interoperability with existing equipment and systems.
  • Monitoring the operational performance of conveyor systems using sensors and control systems. Analyzing data to identify areas for improvement, optimize throughput, and reduce wear and tear on the system.
  • Regularly maintaining and servicing conveyor systems to prevent downtime. Troubleshooting any mechanical or electrical issues to ensure smooth operation and reduce production interruptions. This may include addressing belt misalignments, motor failures, and sensor malfunctions.
  • Collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to design or enhance control systems. The role might require working with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between automation and other plant processes.
  • Ensuring that conveyor systems meet all safety standards and regulations, such as those related to moving parts, emergency stops, and material handling. This includes conducting regular safety audits and providing training to staff on safe conveyor operations.
