Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of legal, court or justice system support related experience
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire
- Prior to hiring, the Sheriff’s Office requires that all candidates pass an extensive background review.
Responsibilities
- Advises employees of new directives, policies, procedures, and goals.
- Answers staff questions and provides subject matter expertise to the Division.
- Supervises staff, oversees floor operations, assigns duty posts, and directs workflow; prepares schedules to maintain adequate shift coverage; and maintains records of daily work assignments.
- Participate in hiring process and conducts interviews.
- Mentors staff and coaches/counsels on job performance; and provides feedback to SIMS supervisors.
- Trains new staff and conducts remedial training as needed, maintains training records; assists staff in problem research and resolution.
- Interprets judicial documents, including computing sentences and interpreting court orders, and enters data into the MCSO database (SHIELD).
- Prepares statistical data for reports, administrative inquiry reports, memos and other correspondence as requested.
- Processes requisitions for office supplies and equipment.
- Responds to telephone inquiries from other law enforcement agencies and the general public; resolves customer comments/complaints.
- Oversees, processes, and schedules inmates to court and enters data in SHIELD.
- Comprehends and interprets state, county, municipal laws, rules, regulations, and Office Policy.
- Monitors paperwork to ensure it is timely and accurate.
- Coordinates with other agencies or departments to resolve problems or create new procedures.
- Verifies end-of-shift cash count in Bonds and Fines, including Safe and Bank Transfers.
- Files court documents and Division paperwork.
- Prepares custody files for transport to warehouse.
- Advises SIMS Division Command of concerns or work issues, evaluates procedures, and provides ideas for enhancements.
- Performs quality control check on all computer updates entered upon receipt of court documents; upon adjudication of all charges, reviews, approves, and authorizes all releases processed by the Inmate Release Unit.
- Works duty posts as needed.
- Is present at work site to perform tasks as assigned and scheduled by supervisor.
- Any other duties as assigned by the SIMS Supervisors and Managers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Administration, Public Policy, Justice Administration, Legal Assistant or Criminal Justice
- Clerical or administrative experience in a criminal justice setting.
