Requirements
- Typically requires a high school diploma or GED
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of related experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Knowledge of various metals and measurements used in machining processes required
- Knowledge of machinist, CAD and/or CAM software required
- Knowledge of mathematics and its application required
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods required
- Knowledge of monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly required
- Ability to read hydraulic schematics
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Ability to operate shop equipment safely
- Ability to perform all jobs within the shop
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes and delegates work assignments in order to best utilize hours, skills, and equipment.
- Supervises and directs daily activities of five or more shop employees.
- Manages technician productivity; assigns work orders and schedules workload.
- Provides coaching and feedback to shop employees.
- Evaluates, checks, and signs all completed items that leave the shop facility.
- Provide technical guidance as necessary during repairs.
- Manage training and professional development of onsite personnel.
- May fill in for the Shop Manager as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
