Requirements
- 3+ years of experience
- Experience with large scale global network (production, backbone and corporate) environments.
- Experience maintaining enterprise LAN/WAN, wireless, authentication, and VPN infrastructures
- Knowledge of current networking systems including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load-balancers and all IP-based protocols
- Advanced level experience with Juniper, Cisco and Ciena required
- Strong knowledge in TCP/IP, L2/L3 protocols, LAN, Spanning-tree, WAN, Metro, IPv4, IPv6, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, MPLS, QoS/CoS, MACSec
- Strong hands on knowledge and experience in layer 1 – Fiber Optic, OTDR, BERT, WDM, ROADM, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of all OSI Layers focusing on the network stack – TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, MPLS-TE, VXLAN/EVPN, and Anycast concepts
- Experience writing automation code in at least one of the following: Python, Perl, Javascript, JS/web frameworks and XML+xpath
- Excellent communication and written skills, along with network diagramming and network documentation knowledge
- Create the SOP’s and automate repeatable operational work
Responsibilities
- Help resolve complex network infrastructure issues in a tier 2-3 engineering capacity.
- Support network up-time and health; which is the monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining of network hardware and software required to operate complex production networks
- Support network delivery; which is the design, deployment, scaling, and evolution of complex production networks.
- Work at each tier of the network OSI model, scripting and designing advanced tools and automations to support the deployment and operation of the network, connecting disparate network architectures using multiple routing protocols, and network and application monitoring.
- Apply knowledge of IP routing protocols including BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, IP Multicast, MPLS, etc.
- Implement and support complex network solutions in a hybrid O&O datacenter and public cloud environment
- Conduct network capacity management, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, tools, and infrastructure teams to develop sound automation solutions
- Participate and drive postmortem discovery to help troubleshoot design issues and find practical solutions to address barriers, enabling forward movement in the evolution of the network.
- Perform hardware and software refreshes
- Document and update policies and procedures
- Mentor junior staff members on day-to-day operations, analytic skills, and network technologies
