Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Information Science, Design discipline or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in user experience design or related field with interaction and visual design, with the bulk of the experience in solving complex large-scale problems.
  • A product design portfolio that demonstrates how you design to solve end user needs.
  • Familiarity with responsive web, iOS and Android
  • Experience in designing for enterprise applications (Ecommerce domain would be a plus)
  • Strong critical thinking to support your decisions.
  • A strong design thinking mindset.
  • Ability to work on details while keeping the big picture in mind, and vice versa.
  • Familiarity with process/task flows, wireframes, screen prototypes, and functional specifications.
  • The ability to work with design templates and patterns to create and maintain a scalable and consistent application.
  • Strong tendency towards visual thinking using techniques like storyboards and sketching to communicate interaction design concepts.
  • Strong understanding of design theory and concepts to create effective visual communication with hierarchy and balance (E.g. Typography, color, space, contrast).
  • Ability to work on more than one project at a time.
  • Ability to manage your time and deadlines, as well as adapt to the ever-changing priorities of the ecommerce business.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing a consistently high level of attention to detail.
  • Constant drive to stay up to date with the latest industry news and developments.
  • Capability to adhere to team processes and standards, while contributing ideas for improvement.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills. Ability to clearly present your work; you are articulate and can advocate design rationale.
  • Experience with business requirement gathering, scoping, planning your work, benchmarking, competitive analysis, and other secondary research methods.
  • Experience negotiating and if required, educating stakeholders.
  • Experience partnering with cross functional teams in launching new products and improvements to existing features.
  • Inclusive design philosophy with a strong editorial sense. You gather feedback judiciously but know when to adjust your designs and when to follow your initial vision.
  • Readily give and receive constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Think strategically using design thinking and design techniques like service design blueprint, stakeholder vision, wireframes, process flows, sketching, prototyping and others relevant to communicate product vision, concepts or design prototypes.
  • Make design decisions based on good judgment, experience, research, and data.
  • Have a real impact at scale through new product launches and incremental improvements that effect millions of Walmart associates everyday.
  • Experience negotiating business decisions.
  • Be part of a fun, humble team, always learning, collaborating with other designers to deliver a cohesive customer centered experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building efficient scalable systems in eCommerce
  • Deep understanding of design principals and industry trends.
  • Design certification (for example, IDEOU – Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate)
  • Driving product development in a user experience area
  • Master’s degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area
  • Related industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare)
