Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field) and 8+ years of related work experience.
- Registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligible for registration, with Canadian provincial engineering regulatory bodies.
- Experience working on City of Winnipeg / City of Calgary / City of Edmonton, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure, Alberta Transportation, Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, or BC Ministry of Transportation projects is required.
- Proficiency in utilizing OpenRoads Design / MicroStation and/or Civil 3D / AutoCAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex engineering road and highway tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
- Extract engineering information from CAD drawings. Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
- Complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
- Frequently interface with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
- Serve as a task team lead on small to large design and construction projects, responsible for meeting budget, schedule, and client quality requirements.
- Prepare detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
- Review supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
- Prepare and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
- Provide technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and other Engineers working on the same project.
- May be required to sign and seal documents as the professional Engineer of Record, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- Opportunity to build and grow a local team of Engineers, Designers, and CAD Designer/Drafters to support business development in Western Canada.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute is an asset.
