Requirements
- BS degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution
- MS degree with an emphasis in Transportation & traffic engineering highly desirable
- 8 years or more of experience as a traffic/transportation engineer
- Experience with hands-on traffic simulation using software programs such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, GuideSign/SignCAD, etc
- Proficient working knowledge of, and strong hands-on experience with, major types of technical analyses (including traffic impact analyses, safety studies, signal corridor studies, capacity analyses, signal designs)
- Experience with roadway systems design utilizing either Autocad Civil 3D and/or Microstation
Responsibilities
- Perform traffic engineering assignment duties and support roadway geometrics design
- Conduct Traffic Operations Analysis using Synchro, HCS and VISSIM
- Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic signal construction
- Develop and implement signal timings, including data collection and programming
- Develop roadway marking and highway signage plans based on MUTCD and state guidelines
- Support geometrics alignments and design for state and regional DOT road & highway projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Synchro, HCS and VISSIM
- Experience with Connecticut or Massachusetts DOT projects
- Proficiency in MicroStation CADD software
- Experience with development and implementation of signal timings
- Experience in the development of roadway marking and highway signage plans
