Requirements
- Seven years’ experience adjudicating commercial general liability bodily injury claims with exposures of $100,000 or more
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is strongly preferred
- Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating commercial general liability bodily injury claims beyond the minimum experience required above may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Must have good business acumen
- Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships
- Strong claim negotiation skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software
- Licensed Claims Examiner (Based on state) Must be licensed or have ability to quickly obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first party claims within 120 Days
Responsibilities
- Adjudicate New York Labor Law claims at the highest authority limits
- Conduct detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation
- Report to senior management and underwriters on claims trends and developments
- Analyze claims forms, policies and endorsements to determine policy coverage
- Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly
- Manage claims in litigation
- Manage diary timely and complete tasks to ensure cases move to the best financial outcome
- Properly set claim reserves
- Identify loss drivers and claims trends
- Identify, assign, and coordinate expertise resources for case resolution
- Prepare reports for file documentation
- Apply creative solutions for the best financial outcome
- Negotiate highly complex settlement packages
- Process mail and prioritize workload
- Responsible for telephone calls and written correspondence
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more insurance designations
- Four additional years of related experience adjudicating commercial general liability bodily injury claims beyond the minimum experience required above may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Demonstrates innovative thinking and regularly shares ideas
- Ability to articulate the financial value of work at multiple responsibility levels inside clients’ business
