Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 6 + years directly related experience.
  • Advanced experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards, i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC
  • Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management.
  • Excellent communication skills, in verbal, written and presentation formats.
  • Ability to travel 15% is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide local management with technical assessment of engineering skills and performance levels.
  • Responsible for assessing training of the technical staff and development of new training programs.
  • Provide on-going support and guidance on technical issues, test procedures, and standards interpretations.
  • Provide quotes for a large array of standards and complex projects and products.
  • Research new standards, technologies, and trends in standards.
  • Represent Intertek on technical committees, code panels and/or associations.
  • Support accreditations activities such as audit follow-up and corrective actions. Investigate technical complaints.
  • Provide complex sales support such as giving presentations during client visits.
  • Provide on-going support to clients as needed.
  • Recommend and prepare capital expenditure requests and manage capital projects.
  • Mentor less senior technical staff.
  • Perform other work as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in a directly related field/industry.
  • Prior project management experience in a work environment.
  • Experience with inverter standards such as UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEC 62109, etc.
  • Experience with utility interactive inverters and/or power conversion equipment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
