Requirements

  • At least 5 years of trade compliance experience (with or for a medical device manufacturer preferred)
  • Familiar with and able to navigate non-US export laws with support from subject matter experts
  • Strong understanding of complex import and export laws, regulations, and references, including but not limited to: U.S. Customs Regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Electronic Export Information Requirements (EEI), USMCA Free Trade Agreement; Incoterms
  • Licensed Customs Broker and/or Certified Export Specialist certification preferred
  • Familiarity with maquiladora operation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for import and export compliance questions, providing advice and guidance on compliance, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure that Nordson Medical’s activities comply with applicable import and export laws and regulations
  • Create a shared strategic vision and followership among a range of colleagues in various job roles around the world so as to support a cohesive and effective program
  • Provide documentation for and respond to corrective actions associated with import and export audits
  • Develop and maintain standard work documentation relative to the handling of import and export transactions
  • Develop and conduct compliance training as needed
  • Assist in the development of compliance KPIs
  • Assist with assignment of HTS, Country of Origin and ECCN codes to new and existing products
  • Manage adherence to approved Customs broker list
  • Monitor export shipments for commercial red flags
  • Aware of changes to regulatory requirements affecting Nordson Medical. Communicate and ensure appropriate action is taken to stay in compliance
  • Support strategic mergers and acquisitions including due diligence and integration planning
  • Support internal compliance audits
  • Support external requests for information from governmental agencies
  • Other duties as assigned
